Pendant Lighting Fixtures – Hanging lights are a great way to focus lighting in a designated area. Hanging luminaries hang from the ceiling, which is one reason why they are so popular. Regardless of the method used to suspend the light, adjusting the length is as easy as cutting the tube or wire used to suspend from the ceiling to the desired length. This is still true when installing a hanging lamp in a false ceiling. The method used to install the existing artifact in the suspended ceiling determines the degree of difficulty when installing the hanging lamp in its place.
Locate the switch on the electrical panel that controls the flow of electricity to the pendant lighting fixtures. Switch to the off position. Take the cover of the existing lamp and remove the lamp. And then remove the screws that connect the device to the junction box and disconnect the cables. Take note of the method used to mount the junction box to the suspended ceiling by removing the ceiling plate next to the lamp.
Hang a plumb line from the roof until it is directly over the junction box and mark the roof. Drill a pilot hole in that mark through a threaded ceiling hook. Cut a section of the swing chain with tin snips to get from the hook of the junction box. Connect the cables according to the pendant lighting fixtures manufacturer’s instructions. Push the wires into the junction box and secure the top plate to it as well. Install the correct bulb to the pendant light.
